Facilitator - Tim Campbell (Bright Ideas Trust)
After winning BBC's The Apprentice, Tim spent two years working for Amstrad plc under the mentorship of the company's Chairman and CEO, Sir Alan Sugar, where he set up a Health and Beauty division within the company. Tim is a Child Ambassador for London and was appointed by the government to focus on the particular problems of the capital's young people under the Government's Every Child Matters agenda. He is closely involved with the Jack Petchey Foundation, the ACLT and is an active supporter of the NSPCC (he ran the London Marathon for them in 2006), Learn Direct and Connexions. He is also the face of the British Library's campaign to promote their business support services. Tim is now leveraging his experience and public profile to promote and lead Bright Ideas Trust.
Show me the money - Jim Shaikh (Yoomi)
Jim Shaikh is a serial entrepreneur and Managing Director of Feed Me Bottles Ltd. Jim focuses in the product development sector, leveraging his engineering background and business development skills to identify and commercialise new product opportunities and bring these to market.
His latest venture is Yoomi, an innovative self-warming baby feeding bottle that will change the way in which parents feed their babies. Yoomi was launched exclusively in John Lewis in November 2009 and was sold out of a number of stores in less than a week. Jim is currently growing the Yoomi business in order to expand to additional retailers later in 2010. Jim has financed his business ventures with a mixture of grant and equity investment and to date Jim has raised over £1 million to fund Yoomi.
Jim completed a MEng at Imperial College before obtaining a PhD from Cambridge University. Initially an academic, Jim quickly moved into mainstream engineering with BMW Rover and then into consulting engineering. He completed a MBA at London Business School and was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug when awarded first prize at the LBS Entrepreneurship Summer School.
Jim is married to Farah, a lawyer (and core investor) and they have 2 sons, Danial aged 7 and Niall aged 2 (chief tester of the Yoomi).
Show me the money - Jeremy Stockdale (Barclays Bank)
Ive worked for Barclays since graduating from university over 17 years ago and during my career have spent an equal amount of team in branch-based and more specialist roles in head office. I started my career as a Customer Advisor at Watford branch and since then have undertaken a variety of roles in Project Management, Purchasing, Strategy and Planning, and scale Operational Leadership.
In my current position as Head of London North Region for Barclays Business I see my primary responsibility as being to lead a highly motivated and professional team of Business Managers to nurture lasting relationships with new and existing clients to help them fulfil their business dreams. We acknowledge that all businesses both start-ups and established enterprises require our support, guidance and expertise more than ever before.
On a personal note, Im married with two young children and enjoy most sports both watching and participating. At the risk of polarising opinion about me, I also support Chelsea
Meet the entrepreneurs - Adejare Doherty (The Wholeleaf Co.)
Adejare Doherty is a former Lawyer turned entrepreneur and is co-founder and CEO of Ethical company, The Wholeleaf Co.
The Wholeleaf Co. supplies the UK catering and retail industry with unique disposable food ware made from nothing but naturally shed palm leaves and pledges to give 15% of profits to good causes.
The Wholeleaf Co. has supplied into national retailers like Sainsburys and Oxfam, international caterers such as Aramark and supplied plates for events such as the feeding of 5000 in Trafalgar Square.
Adejare featured on the last series of Dragons Den and is a sought after speaker for business students, giving a real insight into running a start up and surviving in a recession.
Meet the entrepreneurs - Jack Morris (Business Design Centre)
Jack Morris is Chairman of Business Design Centre Group, a private group of companies principally owned by him and his four brothers, founded in Islington, London 1954. As well as operation of the Business Design Centre, his business interests also include exhibition and event organising and property investment.
Meet the entrepreneurs - Pim Aldridge (DaMunki)
Pims career in music begun at 15 when he was a producer in a hip hop band. He then progressed to making drum and bass where he was a producer involved with a number of successful tracks on key record labels.
Later Pim went on to write the music for a couple of UK independent films, and also took control of the music supervision for these films.
In 2005 Pim decided to set up his own company writing and composing music for adverts and films, this was known as daMunki. He has built this company up from the ground and they have managed to write music for worldwide campaigns for Nike, Nokia, Landrover to name but a few. Currently they work with at least ten composers around the world and with all the key advertising agencies in London.
Meet the entrepreneurs - Nick Jenkins (Moonpig)
Nick Jenkins is the founder and Chairman of Moonpig.com, the personalised greeting card retailer.
After eight years of working in Moscow, Nick returned to England and set up Moonpig in 1999. After five years of turmoil and losses the business made its first profit in 2005. Moonpig now has three million customers in the UK and has expanded to Australia.
Meet the entrepreneurs - Araceli Camargo-Kipatrick (theCUBE)
An MA graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) and King's College London, previously worked in theatre, producing plays in New York and London's West End. Originally from Florida, she has a degree in psychology, which she says has proved integral to her enterprise experience.
She moved permanently to the UK in 2004, working as a brand producer for creative brands before establishing THECUBE in late 2009. Araceli is passionate about sharing her skills and expertise to help people build their business acumen and create successful businesses.
THECUBE caters for both start-ups and fledging graduates looking to make opportunities via enterprise.
Marketing - Paul Williams (Savills)
Paul Williams is a Director of Savills the international property company, responsible for the residential arm in North London. He sold his own company to the group in 2005 so has the advantage of owning and running a SME as well as operating at a senior level in a PLC.
He is a member of Angel Town Centre Ltd and the Islington Business Board.
Paul is a great supporter and sponsor of the arts in Islington, and has lived in the area since 1987.
Marketing - Heather Reid (Headers)
Heather Reid is the owner and manager of Headers hair salon in Chapel
Market. Originally from Barbados and born of an entrepreneurial spirit,
Heather is known for her forthright views on business independence and
motivation. She is a strong supporter of a multi-cultural London,
ensurung not only that hair treatments are available for all hair types,
but also employing a truly multi-cultural approach to staff
recruitement.
Self-taught in the hair industry, Heather is currently developing plans
to launch the Headers Academy in 2010. Adopting a people-centric aproach
to service, Headers itself has become one of the brightest additions to
Islington's commercial landscape with much more to come.
Sales - Clare Matheson (Islington Chamber of Commerce)
Clare Matheson has spent the last 7 years in the waste management industry having worked for two London based recycling companies, selling their services to companies ranging from SMEs to multi-national banks and legal firms. Clare now manages the Chamber of Commerces Business Waste Recycling Project as well as undertaking freelance consultancy work.
Sales - Dotun Adeoye (Sales Department)
Dotun Adeoye is an enterpreneur as well as a Sales and Marketing practitioner since the 90s. He is the Managing Director of Sales Dept ; a sales and business development consultancy firm that helps professional service companies in the UK generate more business.Dotun has been involved in various sales roles in different countries and continents.
Dotun has worked in sales and sales management in various UK blue chip organisations. He has also been the Sales Director in some international companies.
Dotuns interests are spending time with his family, helping people, supporting Arsenal , listening to classical music and business networking.
Dotun is a resident of Islington.
Writing a business plan: essentials - Kingsley James
After teacher training, Kingsley spent 20 years in industry, in posts rising from Production Manager to Director of Group Operations. Since 1987 he has worked as an Enterprise Adviser, and as a lecturer in Finance and Marketing. Kingsley's main speciality is business planning and growth, as well as writing the documents which help to raise finance either from banks or from public sector sources.

John has provided advice and support to over 1000 start-ups and Small
Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) for the last 8 years and is a regular
guest speaker at enterprise events across London. His advice has helped
countless people start and grow their businesses including some
businesses those that have appeared on Dragon's Den.
He works closely with local businesses as part of Islington Council's
Business Recovery Programme designed to kick start businesses suffering
in the downturn and is currently a Member of the Chartered Institute of
Marketing and Institute of Business Consultants.
Using the internet for business success - Iain Scott (Base Creative)
Iain Scott is Managing Director of London based web design and digital marketing agency, Base Creative. At Base Creative, Iain heads up marketing and business management while acting as advisor to a select few clients on all matters related to online marketing.
He specialises in Search Engine Optimisation and web marketing, both in terms of how to attract people to a website and convert visitors into paying customers.
He is in his 8th year of business and has over 10 years experience in the industry.
Iain has spoken at seminars for Business Link, the Islington Chamber of Commerce, has lectured for Independent Seminars, and manages interactive online marketing workshops under the banner Sandbox Seminars.
